The Weekend Recap - The Port of Miami 100

It was a great weekend for racing in The XBOX ONE iSCAR Series! With several great practice sessions for preparation, and that made for much better green flag racing at Homestead Miami! When testing started Sunday afternoon before qualifying, the drivers worked hard to take advantage of those last few practice sessions to figure out a qualifying strategy and make some last minute adjustments for The Port of Miami 100! The #12 Randy Hinshaw II was very loose in those last few sessions, but he was able to dial it in for qualifying setting a pole time of 28:363, which also sets the new track record for R880 iSCAR Rules. The green flag flew, but not for long as we would have our first caution just as we completed lap 1. The guys got back in line and were ready for the restart, and we had our second caution flag around 27-28 laps in which lead to some strategy calls for pitting to see who could make it the rest of the way. Although, the leaders stayed out with an attempt from the #7 Herbie Gordon III running P2 at the time to try to pull the #12 Randy Hinshaw II into the pits with some trickery. Both drivers stuck with their strategy plan and stayed out! We had another yellow flag, which would be our last caution around 10 or so laps later! This stop would mix the pack up a bit as drivers that were a lap down could get the drive around and get their lap back. After the stops were made, we found the #76 Tylar Brown out front trying to lead the field! Brown has been on a part time drive for his team this season, not always being able to compete in the iSCAR Series due to other scheduled races. When Brown has been able to show up and race he has proved to be very strong! Brown lead the field back to the green flag and extended out a strong lead in front of the #46 Matt Adams making a strong comeback after missing the last two races, followed by the #7 Herbie Gordon III rounding out the top 3. The #12 of Hinshaw would slowly pick at the field one by one before finally catching Brown and making the pass for lead. Behind the leader things were heating up in a battle for P2 between the #76 of Brown, #46 of Adams, and the #7 of Gordon III. They raced back and forth hard for the last 5 laps, Brown had stretched out from the battle for P3 and Herbie Gordon III was able to pass Matt Adams on the last lap to lock in the podium! After the smoke cleared, the winner was #12 Randy Hinshaw II with a strong win as we close out our Inaugural Season with just 3 races remaining! It had been 12 races since we seen the #12 car in Victory Lane, but he swept the weekend with the pole and winning The Port of Miami 100! On to COTA (Circuit of the Americas), as we get back to road racing for 85 miles in The Texaco 85 around the USGP Circuit on November 4, 2018! SEE YOU THERE!!!
